Form Evolving...
« on: March 03, 2007, 11:01:00 AM »
Is it common for your draw to change as your form evolves or develops?

I ask as I found that my draw has gone from a measured 28" to 29" in the last month or so.

In that time my form has evolved a bit, with a more open hand/higher wrist, elbow better in line with my bow arm, and primarily back muscle at full draw, rather than shoulders/biceps.  This is much more comfortable and my shooting has become more consistent.

A couple disadvantages are that I had to buy a couple dozen new shafts and build 30" arrows and have about 3.5 dozen 29" arrows I can only shoot with target points.

Also found I was drawing 55lbs with my 51lbs 58" limbs which was a touch too much.  Swapped back to my original 60" 48lbs @ 28" which are 51lbs at 29", and everything is cool.

Also had to get ahold of Tim at Kota Bows and Greg at G&M to have the my custom Swift and Hunter 56 made 50lbs@28" rather than 52lbs if it isn't too late in the game...

It is not uncommon to gain an inch or so on your draw. If you want to change the limbs for an easier draw weight, that's up to you. Sounds like you mentioned only a couple pounds on one of your bows. You might want to try working up to a comfort level with the higher draw weight. But your choice. Good for you with the improved form.
I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness and will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.
