Bear Kodiak Hunter info please.

Any Kodiak Hunter owners out there?

I bought a 1968 60” Bear Kodiak Hunter at TBOF this past weekend.  It had an old endless loop string on it that I felt was way too long so I replaced it with a Flemish twist I had on hand. Twisted up the string till it’s laying about the middle of the limb curve, about 1” past the end of the string loop groove.  The brace height is measuring 8-7/8”.  Is this higher than normal or about right for this particular style of bow?  It rained hard most of the time Friday & Saturday.  Still trying to dry everything out.

I've bought many old Bears with the original string. All of them yielded a ~9" brace height.

I have the same bow and I use 56 inch string twisted to between 8 3/4 and 9.  Shoots the same way if I keep it in this range.  

One thing for sure.  The longer brace height on Bear bows is not forgiving.  Be smooth with your draw and release.  I still love to get mine out and shoot it occassionally.  Still the most quiet bow I have ever owned.
