Chronographed Chek Mates Today...

Had a very nice day so I set up the chronograph and tested my Chek Mates.  Thought others might be interested in the results.

All are set up with a Flipper II rest, string silencers, and brush buttons, and a single brass nock point. The test arrow was a 30" 2413 with a total weight of 525 grains.

All bows were shot 3 under with a Big Shot Glove 4 feet from the chronograph. the average was of five consecutive shots.  Here are the results...

Hunter I  58" 60#@29"  187FPS  (8.8GPP)
Hunter II 62" 56#@29"  184FPS  (9.4GPP)
Hunter II 60" 51#@29"  175FPS  (10.3GPP)

No surprise that pound for pound the longest bow was the most efficient. I was very surprised how well the 51# limbs performed, also...

Very interesting - as engineer I could also be very interested to see draw curves, like those for compound bows. Because I have a theory for how recurve bows works, but I have never seen it measured in a draw curve. And of course it is different from bow to bow.

Maybe you NDTerminator don't have the equipment to measure the draw curve? Others who have ever tried to measure draw curves on recurve bows??

This post made me curious,I am an engineer but this is as close as I am going to let it to my archery!Just this once.
 Finally got around to checking my 62"HunterII. 61#@30,DYNA97 string,big shot glove,fur and spiders on string,7 3/4 brace ht.

2 arrows :
gold tip trad 75-95 31.5"+100 gr insert+125gr FP 603gr

2117 legacy 31.5"+125 gr FP 552gr

4 feet from the chronograph:
  gold tip 9.89gr/lb 191.9 avg max deviation 1#
  2117     9.05gr/lb 197.4 avg max deviation 1.1#

only 4 shots each but extreme spread was great!
I was very happy (and a little supprised)with the consistency.
 Used a crony at the local archery shop,so calibration is anyones guess.

Congrats on a fast setup RKing. As far as I'm concerned once you get past 190FPS, you are burning!

I too was amazed at how consistent the CM's were across the board.  I think the greatest max deviation I got was a shade under 2.

Just took delivery of my new Hunter 56, 53#@29". The Hunter 56 is not known as a burner, but
it zips a 495 grain 30" 2213 with surprising authority.  Going to be interesting to see how it chronographs...

Thanks,I'll be interested to see how the 56" works for you. I assume your draw is 29" ,wonder about finger pinch and noise? If you like it I may get me some shorter lighter limbs.
 I got to thinking a crony might me a help to confirm consistency in draw length. I was supprised by my consistency because I have a HORRID release.I know it but just can't seem to fix it!Drives me nuts to keep doing something I know I shouldn't. I did't know how bad till My son took avideo,Oh man that was enlightening.I'm going to post it here when I figure out how.

Shooting the 56, found myself turning my face in to better see through the smaller sight window, and clipping the side of my nose bloody with the string.  Never had this problem with my longer CM's, so did some limb swapping.  With a set of 51#@29 limbs off my 60" Hunter II, the 56 has an OAL of 58"/52#@29 and the problem stopped immediately...

Your post about the 56" got me thinking and I got out my browning cobra II from high school.Haven't shot it in years but with a little setup it shot fine,nice and quiet.Took a few arrows to get used to the point of impact change but then was shooting decent.may keep it handy for a while.
it's 45@28 58"long.I pull 30 so I guess thats about [email protected]'s not as quick as the hunterII so shooting at various distances didn't go so well!
