Stick on rest

Anyone use a stick on arrow rest on their wood/glass recurve?

Yes,I use them. My favorite is made by satellite archery.They work real well. I've used the Bear weather rest,but don't care for it.  Ben

I've used the Flipper II for several years and really like it. But it won't fit on my DAS with a plunger, so I ended up going with a T-300.

An elevated rest on a longbow?  Almost seems sacriligious!      I guess it would work though.  I just have an easier time imagining one on a recurve.

I buy them at Dick's sports.They are very quiet,give good support for your arrow and have never had one loosen or come off.The back of the package will say AS6831100 shoot around rest.If you need any more info or don't have a Dick's close, let me know and I'll get one for you and mail it. Ben

Sorry,yes I have used one on a longbow and it worked fine even with vanes although I prefer feathers and recurves.  Ben

I use one on my Red Wing Hunter. I use the weather rest. Works great.

Just put one of those NEET stick on rests on the wifes USAC bow. It has a hugh shelf and the arrow had a lot of contact. Getting much better flight with this rest. My wife don't really give a rats butt what's traditional and what ain't. She just likes to shoot. Gotta respect that!

I couldn't help from getting a good laugh when I read your post about a rest on a longbow.  I found it funny only because I just put an elevated rest on my 3-piece longbow.  Matter of fact, I just put it on no more than 1 hour ago.  All I did was cut down a Flipper Rest II.  David

The Bear stick on rest was suggested to me as a good rest for the money.

I never said an elevated rest wouldn't work on a longbow.  I didn't even say it wasn't a good idea.       I just said that, to me, one seems out of place on a longbow.  In general, an elevated rest makes tuning the bow easier.  On the other hand, many longbow risers aren't cut anywhere near center resulting in greater paradox for the arrow to overcome.  Adding a stick on rest can move the arrow another 1/16" or so out and therefore increase paradox.  The greater the paradox the more sensitive the bow is to variations in arrow spine.  Just something to think about.

John.. please don't get me wrong, there was no offense taken, it was just funny that this thread came up at the same time I put the rest on my longbow.  Personally, I'm just having a blast "playing", and that... is what archery should be about (IMHO).   David

I didn't think you took offense and I took no offense myself.  One of the problems with anything in writing is that you can't see the expression on the writers face.  I was kidding the first time around and started off kidding in the second post.  Then, as I thought about an elevated rest on a longbow, I realized that the paradox problem could be increased and decided to toss that thought out there too.  Sometimes maybe I talk too much.    :rolleyes:
