...to take the edge off of this deer season and the "close but no cigar chances" it's offered me. Took one about 10 minutes before I left my stand, and wouldn't you know it, took the next one on the way back to my car. I don't know if that one knew I was there, or just didn't care, but he just kept strumming along. Strange for the birds in this area, but you didn't have to get me to think twice about taking the shot...
Anyway, at least now I can say I did get a little meat this season. Got both birds soaking in saltwater as of now; I'll get some meat in my belly tommarrow and chase after those deer with renewed confidence. Life is sweet somedays...

...oh, and fyi Ken, Nate, Chuck, and Drew; neither bird was tame...     :bigsmyl:

Congratulations on the grouse...wish we had em this far south...on the other hand maybe I should just move up there.  Anyways, congratulations and enjoy the meat!      :campfire:    :clapper:

umm we need pictures so i can judge for myself that they are indeed grouse and not chickens!!   :readit:    :D    look forward to hunting with you this coming weekend and maybe we can both take our first trad deer! there is a nice 6 point chasing around 5 or 6 does about every night, has not gave me a clear shot. my brother in law has missed a doe and the buck with his super duper 6 pin wheelie crapper!!   :banghead:

Wish I did have pics. Course, not having a camera does make pictures a very hard thing to get ahold of. Ah well, these are just more kills that'll have to go in the journal rather than the photo album...

Thank you, Ken. Oh man, you have no idea how much that means!!!   :notworthy:      :notworthy:      :notworthy:

The first one fell to a snubbed-tip Snuffer, and while I've said it before, those 160 Snuffers are a completely different head from the 125's. The second one fell to a field tip/ sharpened wingnut combo. Can't say it stopped the bird cold, but  the Snuffer'd bird made it farther than that one...

Thanks guys...
Drew, ya' gotta get on with the story. BTW, one of the arrows used was a regular 4-fletch with 2 of the feathers being from my stash of turk feathers you gave me. The other was a flu-flu made from those feathers. And I don't even have to tell you about where I got the Snuffer that did away with the first bird...
