Conversation with a Compounder
« on: November 12, 2007, 03:51:00 AM »
A new proshop opened in my town a couple of weeks ago. HOORAY!

I was talking to a young compound shooter.  I had taken a longbow of mine there to check out the speed in the chrono, it is mine, I loaned it to the shop.

He asked how fast it shot.  I said "160 fps"

"160 fps?" he said.  "How do you kill anything with that?"

I told him that I had killed two does and a 200 lb hog last week.

He asked if I got any pass throughs.

I said "I got pass throughs on both does and hit the far shoulder on the hog.  500 grain arrows and a good broad head design makes it work."

He said "500 grain arrows?!"

I loved it.

hehe......My compounder buddy freaked out when I told him I was shooting 800gr arrows. Dontcha love it?

They are eternally trying for the lighter arrow and the new "gadget" to make it work better, and here we are content with the simple life.

I was talking to some friends, they all hunt with compounds. One of them asked me, what are you going to do when the "BIG ONE" walks up. I simply said I'll shoot him, no more was said about it.
Proverbs 12:27
The lazy do not roast any game,
but the diligent feed on the riches of the hunt.

John 14:6
