Welcome!  When I started there was little in the way of information beyond a few books.  Read wisely, there is a such thing as, "information overload". Take enough to get the job done, here is some advice.  There are somethings in shooting a bow that will not change, drawing with good back tension while gently pushing the bow toward the target, steady bow hand/follow through no matter what don't drop your bow arm unitl the arrow smacks the target, don't shoot more bow than your are comfortable with, and enjoy the flight of the arrow.  Everything else is up for grabs and  is up to you, select the sighting system you want, anchor where ever you choose, shoot a tab, glove, or bare finges.  Shoot three under, split finger, or two fingers, in the end you should get out of this what you seek to gain, and a lot more.  It is the a lot more that has me so in love with this life style......you will see, I promise you.

Welcome to the gang. Most everyone here really wants to help. Not the same thing will work for everyone and there are all levels of skill.Finding a bunch of folks to shoot with would be the best thing you could do.That way you ask advise from the ones you know can shoot.

Junction Hunter,
welcome to the gang. If you can. Try to make a Trad shoot. The Trad shooters have fun, be all you can be and nothing more. I've never been with so many people that just want to help eachother without judgement.

Junction hunter, I grew up in a small township east of Hart Michigan.  I would love to move back home when I retire in a few short years.  I love the hunting here in Texas, but I hate the heat!  I love four seasons, and I am not talking about the group, although they are pretty good too...LOL

Scotty,
I love the 4 seasons too but the best season is starting 10/1 here in Michigan. Spring turkey is starting to gain ground but Bow season is still the best. This year will be even better. Last year I wasn't good enough to use the recurve so I needed the wheels. This year is a different story.
Funny story. A friend gave an I.Q test to a 11 year old. One of the questions is "Can you name the seasons of the year?" His answer, "Small game, deer bow and gun, duck, oh I forgot turkey." Now there is a high I.Q.

Junction hunter,

From a recent convert, welcome to the world of how YOU shoot, rather than how your equipment shoots!

I think that mentality attracts more of the helpful types you encounter here.  Definitely different than wheelie communities.
