3 fingers + a gap under?
« on: November 05, 2007, 05:19:00 PM »
I was on the 3 Rivers site yesterday and saw a Utube clip of a guy practising on the range shooting with 3 under where his index finger on his string hand was placed about 1/2" tp 3/4" below the arrow nock.
Does anyone else shoot this way?

I don't...but he was most likely String Walking...where the archer sets his fingers a specific distance up or down the string in relationship to the nock for a specific distance.

It can be VERY accurate...especially when the archer knows the distance and has time to place his fingers at the proper position on the string.

I've used that method for a while now since getting into trad archery. Some people sneer at it but it works great for me on close in shots of around 15-20yds. I like it because it allows me to sight directly down the arrow shaft and use the tip like a front sight. Try it and you might like it too.
Start out up close, about 10yds, and place your regular three-finger grip about 2.5" under the arrow nock. That will place your right eye pretty close to the arrow nock. Look down the shaft, past the tip and focus on your target.
..............Later,B.
