I did not read all the post, so if some one mentioned this sorry for the repeat. What has worked for me in the past on reaching full draw and anchor point, is to walk up to a target butt and stand 3-4' away. Now close your eyes and draw back and concentrate on nothing except reaching your full draw and anchor point (remember what that feels like) then release your arrow. You’re not looking at or concentrating on hitting a target, you are only working on the mechanics and how it feels to be at your full draw and your correct anchor point. Do this 6-12 times and remember what it feels like and incorporate that into your normal shooting. I go back to this sometimes if I haven’t shot in a while to bring every thing back in line before shooting.

Just my .02 cents that has worked for me.

Bowhunting is seeing how close you can get and never miss your mark!"

1/4 away. If you ever come down to Long Ilsand look me up and I will help you personally. I had that exact problem as you. You dont have to worry about the hold because this breaks down the sequence. Stick with your wifes 40lb bow. That is the first right thing to do. Next , Id head to a large field and with steel or rubber blunts or judo points start your swing draw while focused on the horizon looking at nothing in particular. You will magically come to anchor. Now pay attention to where you anhcor and how it feels. Middle finger to the corner of mouth. While drawing try taking more wieght on the 4th finger and then try shifting more of the weight on the index finger. Find which works nicer to achieve anchor. Then concentrate on a slow careful relaease without the hand leaving the face. This is very important. Now do all this an hour at least 3 times a week. NO target! Just the horizon. Groove this in. after 3 weeks try shooting into a bale at 5yds away. You can come to a anchor an pasue but dont fight trying to hold and hold. become one with the sequence .draw, aim anchor release. All in 5 seconds.Dont bother anchoring first and then trying to aim. doesnt work very well and youll find that out.

Why don't you incorporate a double anchor...and slide your thumb base down the side of your face, and not release till your thumb base slides in behind your ear?

If you practice this on the bale consciously over and over, then it should burn in in a few weeks.

I tried everything including closed eye.....,up to a clicker but the PUSHRELEASE works.
I cured another shooter in about 15 minutes a few weeks ago and I showed it to a couple kids as well. At a 3D-shoot the kid did barely hit the target with 3 arrows. I felt sorry for him, because his parents were with him and shooting almost as bad. So I took him aside and explained him what to do and he hit all the remaining targets with his first arrow. I think he had a lot of fun shooting better than his parents ;-))
