At the trad shoots I attend, most folks don't pay much attention to fps.  Extremely rare to see a chronograph.  I'm thankful for that.

My bow shoots about 162 GTQ/sec.

GTQ = gets there quick.

My 50# at 28 will loose them at 179 at my 29.5 draw. Thats a 615gr arrow.

In the past when I chronoed bows. I had a 67# Heritage 64" longbow, 2115 drawn 29" 211 5 times consecitivly and witnessed by an astounded proshop owner, 247fps with a 80+ Proline compound riser with Dickie Roberts recurve limbs again with 2115's

Long as I can pull this bow
Long as I can hike the hills and walk among the trees
I keep on trying
My goals are high but I don't care
The fun is in the getting there, it justifies the end
So try, try again

This discussion is meaningless unless we specify arrow weight.

You can shoot 250 with a trad bow @ 5 grains per pound.  Sounds like a .22 rimfire and bow won't last long but you can do it if you want to  :goldtooth:  ...Van

I shot a bow ( Bear Kodiak) that was 74 pounds at my draw; with a 2216 31 inch long arrow; 5 inch feather fletch with an insert and a 125 grain point .... and it flew at 219 on average of 3 shots.

I had a 56@28 Predator that shot a 28 3/4 inch 2216 with 145 up front at 176 fps. Thats pretty good considering I draw a smidge over 27 and 2216's are in the neighborhood of 12 grains per inch.
Just one more step please!

I have an A&H ACS CX, 62" limbs on a 16" RC riser that makes a 64" bow 50@30. With 460gr Goldtips, 9.2gr per pound, I consistently get 205 with my 30" draw.

I can't say IBO spec is the most logical way to test a trad boy as it wont last long at those specs 70# at 28", 350 grain arrow.

But the new Belcher bows SSR limbs averaged 255 fps.  Can't wait to see what it can do at 53#ish and at least a 450 grains. I think it will be even more smokin on a Monster Bows Aluminum Riser.

Too many variables here due to the arrows weights and bow weights. Since this isn't an apple to apple comparison of different bows. Does it really matter.

As far as I know no bow has hit 200 fps yet shooting 10 gpp @ 28".

There was one in the "Walk the Talk" that hit 197 fps.

My Robertson which is 64# @ 29" shot a 500 grain arrow 220 fps out of a shooting machine and a 720 grain 186 fps.  The shooting machine had a release on it so figure 5 or 6 fps slower with a finger release.

IBOs a bit much for stick bow use. I mean you could but I think you really can't hunt at those weights. I have several others top bows, of those the Morrisons the fastest. I shoot at 54#@27"s 496grn arrow at 198fps no others are with in 10fps. I don't think 5 grains inch is a real bench mark for hunting. I know my arrow is on the light side at 500.

All variables aside, curiosity was the only reason for the post     :)
