Drawing Arm Points Up - Help
« on: April 29, 2009, 10:01:00 PM »
For some reason when I draw, my drawing elbow points up maybe 20-30 degrees.  If I try to keep my elbow in line with the string my anchor comes off the corner of my mouth and comes to a stop below my chin.  What's up with me??  BTW - I have not shot a compound for a number of years now.

Well, put it backin the corner of your mouth.  I'm not being facetious.  I think you may be drawing primarily with your arm muscles and not your back muscles.  Regardless, when you drop the elbow for a more in-line draw, it's going to feel wierd for a while until you get used to it.  By using your back muscles to draw, rather than your arm, it should be easier to position/reposition your drawing hand/fingers in the correct anchor position.  Good luck.

It's like when you first started shooting a bow, practice, practice, practice.

How high is your target?

Pick a target head high, hold your bow arm out so your pointing the arrow at it, and draw the bow keeping your elbow level.

If you are shooting at a taget on the ground and not bending at the waist, your bow arm is low and your draw arm will always be high, kinda screws things up.

Hope this helps

How high...like is it over 10 O'clock on a clock face?

Is it higher than Byrons?

Is it higher that either of these????

Is there some shooting issue you are having that makes you think your elbow height is a problem?

Sorry Koko...just saw your avatar.....

Is a bit hight, but doesn't look too high to cause problems I wouldn't think.

Again, is there some shooting issue you are having that makes you think your elbow height is a problem?
