Does this make sense
« on: July 22, 2010, 09:59:00 PM »
I shoot with both eyes open, anchor at a missing tooth and string along my nose, very slight cant. When I get to anchor and shut my left eye I can not see my target (right eye dominent)so my weakest eye is doing the sighting. So I need to cant my bow alot more or get a bow with alot taller sight window??

I think everything you say is probably true.  I think it is important to see the target with both eyes, if you're shooting instinctively.  So you need to do one or the other of the things you suggest: either cant the bow more or get a bow with a taller sight window.  I think when you're shooting instinctively, it's not so much a dominant eye thing, as being able to focus on the target with both eyes.

Both eyes are needed for binocular vision which is what allows you to tell the distance to the target.  Vision with one eye does not.  Sounds like you need a bow with a larger sight window.  Canting may fix the issue but to much cant can cause other form issues too.

4dogs, check with someone else but I think the way you described the above, you are Left eye dominate. That is why you don't see the target when you close your left eye, or,if you are shooting left handed the above would be right.
