While shooting mediterranean style (split finger) has a long history, using three fingers under has the advantage of getting the arrow closer to your aiming (hopefully your dominant eye) eye, even if you use the same 'anchor point' for both styles.
Good eye/arrow alignment is paramount when shooting a stick bow without sights.
BTW, congrats on getting rid of the training wheels! I've been that route; and I think you're going to find trad shooting, while very challenging, a whole lot more fun. Additionally, you shoot more and tinker less!
