I don't think it matter, it's whatever feels good for you.  I shoot split finger with a tab

I recall a poll on this a while back.  I think split finger took that one.

I shot a bow for the first time when I was around 8 or 9 in my neighbors back yard.  I don't recall why, maybe it was watching them, but I shot 3 under.  That's all I have ever shot since despite a 25 year haitus from archery....

to quote awbowman "it's whatever feels good for you"

I think you can technically derive reasons supporting either.  Do what you like.

They both have their good and bads.  I shot split for years, but switched to 3 under.  Works better for me.  Split finger may have a slight advantage when shooting long range though.  But since my shots at deer are normally under 20 yards...I'll stick with 3 under.

3 under really pulled my groups in tight. Works for me.

Shoot both...see what groups best for you.

Technically I've found that three under is faster and there is far less chance of pinching the arrow.  I anchor with my index finger in the corner of my lip.  For me 3 under produces tighter groups.

For whatever reason I hsve less trouble with the arrow falling off the rest when shooting 3 under.  Also just feels more natural to me.

Most of the time the arrow comes of the rest because you are pinching the arrow while drawing...8^)

That happened to me a lot in the heat of the moment in my early years...no worries with three under!

I have shot split since 1957-58, but my wife is going to start shooting and she'll be starting with three under.
