one eye or two
« on: August 12, 2011, 02:45:00 PM »
Do you shoot one eye closed or both open when shooting 'instinctive.'  I have mainly been shooting with one eye closed and recently started shooting with both eyes open.  It has improved my accuracy out to about 18-20yds, mainly due to my increased concentration I think.  I was just curious about others experience with this.

If I'm not looking through rifle sights it's one eye, bow and handgun are both open.

You need both open for depth perception.

Rifle scope or shooting instinctively with a bow, both of my eyes are always open.

I shoot with both eyes closed.  That way, I have a good excuse for where the arrow hits.

All seriousness aside... both eyes  open .  I shoot right handed and am left eye dominant; but shooting "instinctively", it's not a problem for me.

Hunting, stumping, 3D at unknown distances, both open. At target competition for extreme pinpoint accuracy, I shoot better one eyed- point of aim.

One eye closed. Only because I have too. I don't think I could possibly be any more cross-eyed dominant. I'm still in the early stages of my shooting but so far so good.
