Seems like both open is favored among 'instinctive' shooters.  Guess thats why I had really been stinkin it up lately.

Both open, but wink, close the left eye for a moment, to make sure I have the proper line.

Both open. Always was right eye dominant, and shoot right handed. For  over a year now, a cataract has been growing in my dominant eye. 20/100 in it now. You can bet I'm not going to close the other eye!

With both, but one is a little more open than the other.

For starters, a scoped rifle can well be shot with both eyes open for the same reasons given for shooting a bow with both eyes open.

I shoot tradbows with one eye closed, my left. I am right eye dominant, and shoot right handed. I instinctively gap-shoot. It has helped me focus, and tightened my shooting. Long before I ever tried it, I'd heard, understood, believed and repeated the conventional wisdom of keeping both eyes open. However, if there's one thing that MBB DVDs taught me, it is that many are the paths to shooting happiness! We're all different, and what works for one may not work for another. I shoot with my left eye closed only at normal bowhunting ranges. When I have to raise my arrow tip above the target for a longer shot, I open both eyes so that I can see the target, otherwise it's obscured.

There you go. That's why I have both open. Close one and you can't tell the distance to your target.

The thing is, I work out the distance before I shoot. It takes me 0.25 seconds. Also, as a gap shooter who shoots three-under, the difference between a ten metre shot and a twenty metre shot isn't so much. It would affect a split-finger shooter more.

You got it Ben, when I switched to 3 under is when I started one eye focusing while competing. Groups went from coffee can to golf ball size.

Both open for trad bows and shotguns. One eye for sighted weapons. I am right handed and slightly left eye dominant.
