I have a set of Carbon arrows that have an insert installed with Bohning Platinum. I need to remove these to install weighted inserts. Any idea on how to loosen the glue for removal.????

Heat is the big danger with carbon arrows, they can be removed by screwing in a field pt and applying only enough heat to the field pt, never the shaft, until the bond loosens, but an easier method is to use a long drill bit just big enough to slip inside the shaft by removing the nock and hold the nock end of the shaft and sling by sharply snapping the arrow down so the bit slides down and hits the back of the insert.  Normally a few tries and it will pop the insert out!  Good luck!  Mark

Use a rifle cleaning rod and tap them out. If they are not budging leave shafts in hot water for 5 minutes and tap away. Never been one I did not get out this way yet. Also a short section of steel or brass rod inserted from top and flick shaft towards floor will tap them out as well.

I used a hair dryer to remove inserts from microflites the other day and they came out fine with no damage.

The best way I have used is the method mention above,a drill bit sliding in from the nock end and whipping the arrow towards the floor. But I've had some where the shaft was starting to bulge and the insert was not coming out.If that happens just hope it is long enough to cut the shaft off some to get rid of the insert. Some guys use JB Weld and or some other epoxy,I use Bohning Powerbond never had an insert come out and I can always get it back out.
