bow hand grip
« on: March 23, 2012, 02:36:00 PM »
I have been messing around with the way I grip my recurve.  I usually grip the bow with all fingers wrapped around the grip.  But lately I have curled my last two fingers and hold with my thumb and first two fingers.  My groups are tightening up some.  Anybody else shoot like this?

I shoot with my fingers open and loose around the handle and I tighten up during the follow through. It works well for me!

Take a look at the "Shooter's Form Forum".  Do a search for a thread called "Grip Question."  I posted some pictures there that may help you a little.  Sounds as though you are pretty close.

I've tried both ways you describe with varying results.I now hold like moebow shows in the "Grip Question" thread except the pads of my fingertips are lined up more evenly on the back of the grip and my thumb is relaxed.Using my thumb seems to cause bow torque

moebow -

Thank you very much for your grip suggestions and having watched your youtube videos has been very helpful.

I have you in part to blame for my tighter groups!
