Degrease Snew?

Funny, I picked up a copy of the Traditional Bower's Bible this summer and thought, "Why would anyone want to waste their time to snew back a bow when there is perfectly good fiberglass?"
Now I've collected all the natural fibers from two deer and plan to harvest more. This is addicting.
Anyway, this stuff is pretty greasy as it dries. When it is being prepared does it need to be degreased before it is glued to the back of a bow?

No, it's the body oils on the outer casing you are feeling. Cut them out, lay them on some wax paper or aluminum foil to dry where the dog can't reach them. It dries a nice translucient amber color. The when you pound it, the outer casing will flake off, the fibers will separate and it becomes a nice fluffy white. There will be no greasy feeling to it at all.
