Help me understand something.

I am a right handed shooter that is left eye dominant. The way I shoot blocks my right eye with my shooting glove on the draw and only allows my left eye to pick a spot. This form of shooting works great for me and I shoot great.

Out of curiosity I shot with my right eye shut and my shots miss BAD. My question is why does it matter? I would think that if my focussing eye is the only one open it would work the same

With one eye shut you loose depth perception.

Do your shots miss bad to the left with your right eye closed?  I had the exact same problem and unfortunately figured it out at the worst possible moment causing me to miss a monster buck at 12 yards from the ground!!  FWIW, I shot targets very accurately RH and still do, but when the adrenaline starts pumping and I get jacked up.....All bets are off!!
I don't know what exactly was going on in my brain but I decided not to fight it. Everyone is different, but for me, one time was enough and I made the switch.  Arrow under dominant eye for me from now on and the problem is solved.  Shooting better than ever, sight picture is way better and my confidence is way higher now.

To answer your original question, one would think that it wouldn't matter if in fact your eye is completely blocked.  Is it possible that your right eye isn't totally blocked by your shooting glove but rather only partially obstructed?

If you want to correct the issue and use your other eye grab a pair of clear safty glasses and put a piece of tape over your dominant eye.  You can still use it for periffile vision but the tape blocks your forward view.  I shhot trap alot and people use this when the have an eye dominent issue.
