ok this is going to be a longer one but hopefully it will cause you guys to think.
I have battled target panic for a long time. I shoot well for awhile and then fall apart for awhile. I jump from one shooting style to another and back again. even when I'm shooting good, I easily fall apart under pressure. I have done alot of experimenting with psycho triggers. I have read Joel's postings, watched mtbb 4, and talked to Joel over the phone. I think pscho triggers are the key to beating target panic if I can only find one that works for me.
The style that involves continued pulling untill the trigger goes off is probably the best for most people because they insure good form and eliminate creep, however I have not found one that works great for me yet. I do not want to put a clicker on my self bows and I have tried a kisser touching the forehead, feather to the nose, and sliding my index finger along my teeth untill it touches a certain tooth. Non of these styles have worked great for me. I will shoot them good for a short period and then fall apart. I know you are supposed to just think about the action of pulling and not think about the trigger going off but this seems to much for my small brain! Just to much to think about at full draw or something.
I have also experimented with the style of trigger that involves doing a action that has nothing to do with the shot sequence. I have tried Joel's Tab sear. I have also tried moving my tongue upward in my mouth untill it touches the roof of my mouth. When it touches I release. I have messed with several other types of these triggers and I find that because I am not telling my self to keep pullin keep pullin, I tend to creep and sometimes collapse.
I think that the best psycho trigger for me would be a random timed trigger. This would let me just concentrate on aiming and pulling without worry about when to release. Theproblem with this is that I cannot think of one that I could use in a hunting situation. I have heard of using a wrist watch and drawing when the countdown reaches five or so then draw and hold untill the timer tells them to release. I think this method would allow me to shoot consistently with no fear of tp. I just need to find a timed psychotrigger that I can use in every shooting situation, including hunting. If I had the electrical knowledge I would make a little vibrator that straps on my finger or somewhere that I could activate it at full draw. This device would have a random timer, two seconds, or three seconds, and would vibrate or click to signal me to release. If any of you guys have some ideas about one of these triggers maybe we could brainstorm here a little. It might held some shooters out there in my situation. Thanks!
