Hi Diogo!!

Wow, that is really looking good and overall you've got it.

There are two observations I'll make (can't leave well enough alone can I ?     :biglaugh: )

First, your bow hand fingers are moving around and don't seem to be the same for each shot.  Try to set that hand in a fingers relaxed position at your set position and then don't "wiggle" them around as you draw.  That will help keep tension out of your bow forearm.

Second, watch your string hand at release.  See it pop out and down?  Your entire draw sequence is VERY GOOD! Your anchor and transfer are excellent too.  Where you loose it a little is in the "expand" step.  Your hand moving out and down tells me that you are stopping after transfer and not continuing into expansion.  Expansion is called an "internal" movement and cannot be seen - especially with the jacket on.  What it is though, is a very small movement that causes your chest (sternum) to move out toward the camera JUST A LITTLE.  This is done at the same time as you begin the relaxing of the string fingers for release.  I believe that if you can get that movement going, you will find your hand moving straight back along your cheek/jaw rather than out as it is doing now.

This is not an easy thing to master -- it takes some practice.  But it will pay off with a cleaner release and help keep everything in alignment with the forces generated.  The speed and direction of your current "pop" needs to be redirected to straight back along your cheek.

As I said, what you are doing is excellent and what I'm suggesting above is just trying to refine your shot JUST A LITTLE.  Get that string hand moving straight back from the arrow line and you will have it mastered.

Hi Arne,

Glad you showed.

Yes, it's one thing I tend to do from the very first time. The hand goes out and not back! It's something I have to work on, without a doubt.

I have other angle's of this training session but they are heavy and it's taking a lifetime to upload them.

Still getting my nose tip and upper lip corner beat up...

Thanks for your opinion.

What I can say in this video is: the second arrow (all pink ) felt the best shot and the last arrow, although I didn't hold the draw, the elbow didn't went so hi.

Let me know more what you think.

Good videos Diogo!  They do point out more graphically what I said before.  You have a collapse going after you reach anchor.  It looks like you reach anchor and stop/loose the tension that got you there.  Watch your string arm/elbow as you release.  See it moving forward?  That makes the sting hand pop out and down every time.  I still think that IF when you reach anchor and as you start the release sequence, stick your chest out a little (more of a thought than an overt movement) that you will conquer the collapse.

Again, I'm betting many here on TG would kill for the form you have now and by stopping that collapse many will be envious for life. And your hand will stop the "pop."

Good shooting Diogo!!

Your form looks very good to me.  The only thing I see is that your follow through looks a bit artificial, almost as if you are consciously making your arm go back after the string is gone, rather than having it happen as a response to releasing the string with good back tension.  I have seen this with many compound release shooters who see good shooters "explode" apart at the shot (as will be the case with back tension firing the shot).  They aren't using back tension properly, but they consciously bring the string arm back after the release because they see good shooters do so.  However, it must be a reaction, not a conscious action.

Thanks DP. Yes, I'm perfectly aware I don't have that fluid movement, that's wy I try to train it. It's a work in progress...

Good improvement in such a short time.  Your best shots in these two videos are the very first ones in each and the second to last shot in #6.  Study those shots and compare them to the rest and watch your string elbow.

You have greatly reduced the creep in that elbow in all shots but the three I mentioned are the best ones.  Your hand has much reduced movement so you are on the right track.  Keep with it!

I will mention that one reason for the creep/collapse is the speed that you shoot successive arrows.  Your muscles need a few seconds to recover after each shot (30-45 seconds).  I know you are trying to get several shots on the video and not get the video too long but your best shots are generally the first ones in each clip == you are fresher for those shots.

You are coming along just fine Diogo!

Great news Arne. Thanks.

I just went to the shop and borough a 45# longbow to make it easier to draw and hold. I believe it will give me more opportunity to relax and concentrate on back tension, string elbow, etc.

Let see what happens. I'll try to vídeo to show you later. Maybe in the beginning of next week.

All the best
Diogo

That first vid looked like you were naturally "exploding" apart as a result of back tension; didn't look as forced as the first one.  Just a question: how heavy is your bow?

Diogo asked me to looks at these and post....and I've not read the other replies.

I see improvement through out....alignment looks good....and most of the improvement is coming from the execution of the shot.  Your release is getting better and you are not creeping as much now as in the beginning...and your are smoother on the release overall due to better alignment.

I think you just need more solid practice, and the confidence at anchor will come, and the string will get dropped without doubt or telling yourself to do so.

Get the DVD order in and I'll get it out same day if I can...Savannah is Next Day since I'm from GA.

Thanks Terry,

I've asked my sister to buy it since she live's there.

I also made this morning a formmaster. Any tip on what to look for with this gizmo?

Don't know anything about the form master at all.

I meant to mention....if you watch your bow hand and elbow in the last couple of clips.....your energy is directed toward and away from the target....shows good alignment.

Hey guy's

One more video:

 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nym6rWVLlS4&feature=youtu.be

Arne, why can't I maintain that elbow down?!

I'm uploading another that I'll post later. Meanwhile you can take a look at this.

Also did one to try and see the Terry's clock point of view.

 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGw9wEx_mXQ&feature=youtu.be

I can see my head laying to the side and this must be the reason to get hit in the nose... What do you think of my alignment?

Diogo,  Your elbow is fine!!  It is higher than your "T" demonstration BUT here is what we look at.  Stop the first video just as you anchor.  Now take a straight edge on a piece of paper or an  envelope and hold it up to your picture.  Place one part of the straight edge right on the pressure point of the bow grip in your hand.  Place the other end of the straight edge right on the point of your string elbow.  Now, look at where the line passes through your string hand.  When I do this, the straight line passes your string hand right at the index finger and just below the arrow nock.

This is GOOD alignment for 3 under!! For split finger, that line should go right through the nock but for 3 under it will be just below the nock.  This is called the "Draw force line" and is used to really determine where the elbow should be.  Again, yours is fine.  Many think the elbow should be in line with the arrow but this is not the case.  Level to slightly high is what we want.

In the second video, your alignment is about as good as it gets!!!!  Here you do want the elbow in line with the arrow or even slightly inside the extended arrow line.  AND yours IS!!!!

Do not stress over this Diogo, you are good to go!!   :clapper:    :clapper:    :clapper:

Wow, those are great news. And you know what? It feel's good to shoot this form. I can hold the draw a bit longer and my accuracy bumped up.

Thanks Arne, I owe a lot to you on this.
