wood or metal acs riser
« on: November 21, 2007, 03:20:00 PM »
Ok guys it is crunch time and I need some help. Very soon I should be up to order my acs and even after going back in the archives I still cannot decide which to get the metal or wood riser? I love the look of wood but the mass that the metal gives is making it tough. So if any of you have shot them and can give me any info it would be great. Thanks

I like the metal for the extra mass, and the grip fits me a bit better than the wood.  The wood riser grips are a bit to small and to high of a wrist.  They put my hand in a position to close to the arrow... I know there shouldn't be such a thing, but the feathers of my arrow give me notice that there is right in the web of my bow hand between the thumb and first finger at the shot.

If you have pretty small hands it shouldn't be much of a problem, but for me it is with the wooden grips.

Mine have wood risers-I prefer a light, clean bow. If you want mass in the riser area a bow quiver will give you that. Aluminum in cold weather may be a special consideration for you.

I have had both, I shot the metal riser consistently better but still prefer the beauty of the wood.

I love the wood,  metal in sub zero temp is nasty.

I have shot of few of each. The metal riser is heavier in the hand but noisier.
