Making it click...on game? Non-anticipatory..!
« on: May 15, 2014, 07:02:00 PM »
So I'm turkey hunting, and here comes a coyote on the farm.  20 yds, I draw back to full draw and aim, and I start to focus on "keep pulling" but that coyote is not staying still, and I pull through a release and shoot.  Never clicked, but I drilled it.  It was the first shot I've had on game using a clicker. On a standing deer or big game, i think I could make it happen, but I'm curious how to do it consistently.

Nice work on the Coyote! My "click" is my index finger on my bow hand moving inward untill it touches my thumb. I have been using this method for a year and a half and have had no trouble reaching the trigger on any game. In fact it was much easier on game then on targets. I have not gotten off a shot at times on squirrels and chipmunks but it beats missing them due to target panic. So far I have killed two deer two turkeys a coon a possum several squirrles and several chipmunks with this method and overall am very pleased with it. As far as moving targets, I think it will just take practice to reach trigger while staying on target. I think carp shooting would be good practice for this.

Overspined,

Give me a call so I can explain "The Decision" and what happened to you on the coyote.  Not a bad thing because you made a good shot, however, it is important to understand what happened and how to gain even greater shot control.

I am having the same issue. Just not sure why I am so unfocused when the pressure goes up. I will even struggle with game standing still cause in my head they could move at any time. Guess I need to send Joel an message.
