bow quiver without foam ????

Yesterday I went into the woods with my broadheads safely tucked into the foam of my Selway bow quiver, and a back quiver of small game arrows.  The bh came out of the foam for the early prime hours, then  back into the foam for a shot or two at those pesky squirrels, then back out for that fox that wandered by, then back in again .....no deer, waiting on squirrels...., back out when those two does appeared beyond the thick stuff...they never came into range..., back in again when those three squirrels starting chasing each other.....you get the picture.  The foam in my bow quiver is marked with a silver Sharpie along the pattern of my WW broadheads so that the blades go back into the same slots every time, but I still cringe when those sharp edges slide back into that foam.

Does anyone have any suggestions on homemade or store bought slip-on bow quivers with an upper and lower set of arrow grippers to secure the arrows, and a hood to protect us from the broadheads without that blade dulling  *(&%^$#@#! foam.

One of my projects will be to test whether foam is needed to protect me from the non-stainless steel Outback Supreme broadheads that I will receive sometime next year. What I will verify includes:

1. Will two grippers hold the arrows in position regardless what I do to break them loose -- except pluck them loose to nock?

2. Will grippers hold shafts to prevent them from moving toward shell of quiver?

3. When BH tips are firmly touching shell of quiver, doing what I do in #1, can I get a BH to penetrate the shell?

4. Are arrows noisy during any of the previous items?

I submit that you doing similar testing on the quiver of your choice will be the way to satisfy your intestines that things are as you want them to be -- or not.

A simple "solo stalker" works well. It attaches to the upper limb and protects the broadhead while not in use as you hold the shaft in your bow hand. I have one on each of my hunting bows. 3Rivers sells them but they are easy to make. The ones I use are for 2 blade heads but 3Rivers sell them for 2 or 3 blade heads. These are used in addition to your other quiver...bow, side and/or back.   Pat

I use a 4 arrow Kwikee Quiver on my recurve that doesn't have foam in the hood.  it works great.

I attached the quick release thing to my riser with double stick tape.

I think it was someone here that suggested some double stick tape from Walmart.  It really works well.

A few issues back in the Bowyers Journal there was an article entitled "foam and loathing" about not having foam in the quiver hood.  Basically a string of solo stalkers was installed.  Unless you took out all your arrows it stayed in just fine, was silent and no foam.

i have been using the same quiver for 5 years with no foam.never had a problem.just watch extracting and replacing back in hood not to hit other heads and dull them.i gave up on the foam because of dulling the heads all the time.
