Shooting Tab?

I would assume  you would want the shooting tab to cover your fingers, but how long should a shooting tab be?

The proper fit of the tab is explained in    these posts  .

The biggest mistake people make is getting a tab that is too big.  It leads to tab hitting the face, and poor releases.  With the tips of the fingers exposed, you get an instant reminder if you try to open your fingers rather than relaxing them and letting the string push them aside.  If you release the string correctly, you won’t feel a thing.
