Wensels Hunting Season?
« on: January 28, 2007, 09:10:00 AM »
Well we all know how it went last year for them.

Does any one know how the dynamtic duo did this past season?  Inquiring minds want to know.

I'm not sure but I heard that Gene blunted a couple of P&Y Penguins!  :smileystooges:

Mike: I got a neat 4x4 that grossed 150 2/8". His right base is 7 inches around and his left browtine is 9 inches. Lots of character. Gene got a nice, older 5x5 that had short tines but was 24" wide. I hunted one B&C buck all season. He won. I saw him eleven times and almost got him four times. I'm rather embarrassed to say I had him at 12 and 13 yards and never got a clean shot. I ended up passing up three other 150 inch plus bucks in my quest for him. I'm pretty sure he's only 4 1/2 yrs. old and made the gun season so hopefully I'll pick up where I left off next season. We got some great video footage for our next video too, including a melanistic (black) spikehorn that Gene passed up. We're leaving for our javelina/hog hunt in the morning. Wish you all could join us. BW

Thanks for the response Barry.  I have been living vicariously through you and Gene for a lot of years.  ;-)

I was hoping that Woody would not take the thrill out of shooting smaller deer for Gene as he  would probably  never pull back on another and I enjoy yall's stories.

I am day 29 into a shutdown with another 2-3 weeks to go.  Good thing I was able to spend a lot of time hunting in Dec.  Take care.  Mike.

As a side note, Barry donated the arrow used to take his buck to a project I am working on for St. Jude's.  The arrow will be mounted on a display board and put up on the St. Jude's auction along with a bunch of others that I have been collecting.
Just a little heads up for you arrow and memorabilla collectors!
Thanks Barry!

Gene passed up and filmed the buck earlier in the season. It had both brow tines at that time. Is that tire pollish I smell on his arrows? Ha! Its OK, we can say what we want because they have both gone to Texas! :>)  Nice job brothers.
