Cocobolo Riser ???
« on: November 26, 2007, 07:39:00 PM »
I was just wondering if someone could post pictures of there Cocbolo risers. I'm on the list for a Shrew longbow in the fall of 2008,and thought that Cocobolo would make a pretty riser. What do you tradgangers think? Thanks for your opinions.

Cocobolo is my favorite riser wood especially when combined with yew or osage limbs.  I had a longbow with cocobolo riser and juniper limbs that looked sharp as well.

Top bow is cocobolo with zebra wood and some bloodwood inbetween layers. The bottom bow is solid cocobolo.

Should have written that I told Black Widow I'd be a happy boy if they could find me a piece of Cocobolo as nice as this one.

These are two R/D bows that I made recently. The first one is Cocobolo with Osage split by a mosaic stripe, the other is Cocobolo with Bocote also split with a mosaic stripe.

Check out LBR's page (recurves.com). There are photographs of riser & limb combinations.

I did a Coco riser & Pacific Yew limbs.  Quite a beauty.
