Corn grits are coarse ground corn meal that is boiled to cook. Put a pat of butter on them and they are pretty tasty but I like them with jalapenos, cheese and eggs.

I was also wondering what Grits was, over here we hear about it on tv but had no idea what it was. Do people really eat that ? I'm with Mudd Yuck!

I got addicted to grits while on a bass fishing trip to South Carolina in 1968. Been eating them ever since.

I also love fried corn meal mush with syrup. That was mentioned in this post.

Another southern dish to die for is shrimp and grits (or maybe die FROM). Had some in Savannah, GA.

Hold on now, youre saying "Yuck" to grits, when you aussies slather Vegomite on top of everything that sits still long enough!  That stuff tastes like a 50/50 mix of salt and molasses, and looks like the contents of a diaper!    Grits at least has a good grainy smell.  (By the way, some folks call it sofkee around here. Not sure where that word comes from.)

Grits are pretty good esp with a little bacon grease on top.
I Yankee it up with maple syrup too.   :D
Just one more step please!

Ron, now take the next step and get some yellow grits. They taste even better than the white ones! Also, leave some in the pot and let them set up firm, then take them out, slice, and fry up with some good ole ham (which produces red eye gravy) and go to town. No need to wait for breakfast, try it for supper. Manly man food.

Grits, and a little Chrystal's LA hot sauce - better for you than butter!  Perfect lunch for hunting, in my opinion, is a baked sweet potato - comes with its own biodegradable wrapper, and tasty as all get out, and leaves you determined to bring home some meat.

That made me laugh!  Some maple syrup goes a long ways...

Still can't seem to bring myself to be a morning person...I guess it will be powder white doughnuts and a diet pepsi for me.

I do remember a time at a deer camp when I was 14 that had bacon and eggs with toast...it was a great way to start the morning on stand!

Ain't it funny when the rich yanks call grits, "Polenta " !!! Sounds fancy don't it ???

I am with ArkyBob..... we must be really bored and in the summer doldrums fellers. We are supposed to break 100 degrees for Thu -Sat here and it is not even July yet, sheeeesh ! Sept cannot get here fast enough.

Ron, sure wished we could have made Compton this year so the boys could have made sure you had proper fish to go with your mornin' grits...  :saywhat:
