Beer and Deer!
« on: December 27, 2012, 11:41:00 AM »
I modified a recipe for lamb into a deer shoulder version.

1 boneless venison roast
1 bottle medium or dark beer (I used Sam Adams Winter Lager)
a bit of thyme
squeeze of honey
salt and pepper to taste
enough plain h20 to cover roast

All in the crock pot for 3 hours or till desired tenderness achieved.

I rarely follow a recipe but that's about all I think I put in there.

Just a comment on Deer and Beer.
During deer season and thru the winter I have several get togethers in my Barn we call "Deer and Beer"
Just to paint a picture. The main part of my barn is what my wife refers to as my man cave. It's part shop, part butchering area, and part man cave.
Anyhow, back to Deer and Beer! This is when all my deer hunting buddies get together and fill the barn with all sorts of venison dishes and of course their Beer of choice.
This is why I hunt. Friends, Deer, and Beer!  Can't think of anything better than that!!
