very strange pic-best guess
« on: November 27, 2007, 09:44:00 AM »
I checked the trail-cam this morning and was stumped by one of the pics. I've never seen anything like this. My camera is heat activated so I'm even more perplexed by the pic. As you can clearly see there is no legs or feet below the light spot. My best guess would be a nighttime bull bat but even after alteration of the photo I still cannot make out what this is. I'd love to hear your best guess. There were no other pics from last night beside this one. The pic is from one of my food plots at the house. CK

Do you still have the original unaltered pic?

My wife would truthfully say it's an orb. I have had some very similar pics. She creeps me out sometimes.

I messed with it all across the scale. Not enough in the picture to really do much with it. My guess would be a moth or miller close to the lens and the camera was focused on something farther out thus the blur of focus combined with motion.

An arrow should have shown up in the editing I did with it. The white piece is stand alone and the back ground is true black with nothing that will show up in it beyond the grass showing. The object is close to the camera.

At first look it looks father from the camera. But like Vermonster says I think its close. Probably a bug lit up by the flash. Might have landed on the sensor.

That or its aliens!

I have had pictures like that, most likely a moth or other such insect. They move quite a bit, hence the blur. The camera was probably triggered by a larger animal that just cruised through before it had a chance to get it picture taken (I would assume the game cam probably has a 1.5 - 3 second delay from the time the sensor is triggered and the camera actually takes a pic), and the moth was in the view when the camera did strike  :D

Sorry Curtis.  It was me and my brother foolin' with ya'.  He threw the Bud can challenging me to try and trigger the camera before it hit the ground.  It's spinning pretty fast and about 20 yards out so it'skinda blurry.  I bet him his truck I could do it.  I'll show him the proof and then get the title.  It's a 4WD Tundra extended cab.  Decent enough hunting truck for a rice burner.  Made in Indiana ya know?  Thanks for posting!
Take a kid hunting!
