bear baiting
« on: July 18, 2003, 03:22:00 AM »
1) Try using some fatback and Cherry Jello or any kind of Jello.  Combine the two and melt in a little pan with a coleman stove or the like and let it burn off, its a really good way to attract bears using their sense of smell. 2) ALso try setting up a grease pad at your bait site. This grease sticks to their feet, which other bears will follow in when the bears come in and out of your bait site. Just a few tips (you've probably have hears before). :)

Hey Steven,

The grease pads seems like a decent idea and as for the fat back and cherry jello, that's a new one on me. Do you burn it as an attractant and leave or hunt over it?

Ya you just burn it while you hunt over your bait or just use it as a scent attractant, the bears can smell that stuff from a long way off.
