Sorry for not posting for a while but I'm afraid the work situation will keep me from going - darn it!
I find the older I get, the less I used to know!

The hunt is scheduled for the 12-13-14. Does anyone know where and at what time we meet for the orientation?

The last I heard was Friday Morning, and as yet nobody had any pigs down.
I ended the trip with one close encounter and no shot.
I was hunting with Jeff, and we had a long and frustrating last morning trying to locate and wait out a gut-shot pig.  I'll let Jeff tell the story since it was his pig....the end result is that I learned a LOT about what not to do!!

Other than that, it was warm, then cold, then rainy, then snowy, and then hot...all in one weekend.  I tell ya, that pig hunting is FUN STUFF!!!!

I'm goin back for sure.
Thanks,
Jim Anderson

Sunday morning early Jim and I are working a hill side. Jim going across the top and I was about 1/4 of the way up when I hear something coming from my right and down the hill. Jim has bumped a pig that is going to run right past me. The pig comes thru an opening in the brush about 20 yards uphill from me,stops and looks at me. I don't remember drawing the bow but I remember releasing the string and the pig lunging ahead just as the arrow arrives. Perfect elevation but to far back. He runs down the hill with my arrow sticking out his side. I am stoked! I realize it was a poor hit but I had just stuck my first pig. (first anything bigger than a ground squirrel)We wait 30 minutes then start looking.
The pig is laying in the bottom of a steep draw obviously still alive and with the arrow still there. I decide we should back out and go to the truck for coffee and give the pig 2 hours to improve our chances of recovering him. Longest 2 hours of my life. We go back to the draw and the pig is still there and still alive. The wind was steady up the draw so the plan was for Jim to go up and around to the other side for a shot if I missed or couldnt get a shot.I waited what seemed like for ever for Jim to get in place before heading down the draw. Now I'm about 40 yards from the pig when he jumps up, snorts at Jim who is about 15 yards uphill from the pig, whirls around and runs off never to be seen again. We looked hard for him but no luck. It was a great hunt, exciting heart pounding kind of stuff.

I had a great time on the hunt. Hunted with some great guys. I had my opportunities on the first night. Saw seven pigs. I should have shot then because I didn't see another one the rest of the weekend. We found some awesome areas that I will go back to in the future.
Pick a spot and concentrate!
