This arrow w/broadhead was purchased aprox 10-17 yrs ago buy an antique collector in eureka california, coastal from ishi;s home near Orville california, from the daughter of DR. Kenneth Terwillager these are a couple of dialogues i had with him after purchasing the arrow:
Hello Jim
It`s been several years but I remember where she lives and I will go see her to get her fathers name or any other information she may have. Her dad was a dentist and may be when he went to collage is where he met ishi.I will let you know as soon as I get any information. Thanks this is starting to be real interesting to know these arrows maybe an ishi design. She told me ishi showed her dad how to make bows and arrows and how to hunt deer. Will talk with you soon.
Thanks Gary
Jim
I found the lady with the arrows. Her fathers name was Dr. Kenneth Terwillinger he was born in 1895 and went to dental school at U.C.S.F.The medical school dental complex is where he met ishi around world war one 1915-1919 in san francisco where Dr.Saxon Pope and Kroeber were there at that time. This ladys name is Mary Terwillinger Dunn. She showed me a cigar box with steel and obsidian arrow heads that ishi taught her father how to make. She was nice enough to let me purchase some of them because her children did not want them.I got four obsidian small points which are very nicley done and four large steel broadheads and one small one.
She wasn`t real sure when her father first met ishi but she thought around world war one.She said Dr. Pope would bring ishi out almost daily to demonstrate how to make bows and arrows.
Let me know if this information helps.
Gary. He still has the other arrow i was wondering if anyone would know the worth of this ?????
