How long can I leave my bow strung?
«

Hey Everyone,
I am shooting a recurve and I am able to use it 3 or 4 days a week to practice. Can I leave it strung as it seems less likley to damage the bow and easier on the string if i just hang up between shooting sessions.
Thanks[

if it is a fiberglass backed recurve and you practice with it regularly you can leave it strung indefinatly I do with mine with no ill effects

what styckbow said,,, most times damage is done when string and unstringing anyways.

My regular shooters only get unstrung when I replace the string.

I too think your OK to leave it strung; but I always hang mine horizontally by the string across a deer rack on the wall.I have seen many bows that were left strung or unstrung -sitting on the tip in a corner or against a wall; that ended up with a twisted limb. I don't know if other have noti  ced this ?

Brian, lots of garage sale bows have been stored like that. Sitting in the back of a closet on one end. Easy fix though and ya can always say, hey this old Pearson is all twisted and ya want $25, I'll give ya 5 bucks!
I own a Pearson Hunter that has been strung since 1967, only time it was unstrung was to change the string. It is marked 50#s at 28"s and it actually scales 52#s, I removed the strike plate and found 52#s marked under it! Shawn

Leave it strung. You are much more likely to damage it stringing and unstringing. Provided it is a glass bow.
