Wilson Brothers HF 1225 Recurve
« on: July 23, 2006, 10:52:00 PM »
Anyone ever seen one of these.  I found one today in perfect condition.  It still has the carry case and instructions.   I think that it is from the mid 70's.  What can you tell me about these bows.  I may use it for whitetails and fishing.  It's 60"  48# @ 28".

I know nothing about the bow.  However, if it is from the 70's and is in the condition you say it is, treat it very carefully.  Not that it NEEDS to be pampered, but it probably has  a good bit of collectors value so protect it from the bumps, bruises and wear.  There are a lot of good shooting cheaper bows you can drag into the woods.  I would keep that one in a case or on the wall.

Others may disagree with me, but this is from a collectors point of view.

This is from a 1974 Black Widow Catalog. The HF-1225 came in 60 and 64 inch limbs. The 1225 was offered in weights up to 65 pounds. The limb and handle color was satin black. The brace height for a 60" bow is 8 1/4 to 9 1/4 inches. The brace height for a 64" bow is 8 1/2 to 9 1/2 inches. The riser has a stablizer insert with 5/16 24 threads (#5) and two built in counter balance mounts with 1/4 20 threads (#6) The bow sold for $169.50 The Take-Down Bow Case sold for $18.95. Hope this helps.

Thank you Waterhole.  I've been shooting the bow a little and it shoots great.  I talked with Black Widow about replacement limbs and they do not carry anything for the H1225.  I was hoping to find a set in the 60lb range.   Thanks for the information.

My Pleasure, I had a hunting buddy of mine who shot a 1225 since they came out. Other than being a little on the heavy side it shot great and with 64 inch limbs it was a smooth shootin machine.
