Super Kodiak with built-in sight
« on: April 22, 2008, 02:47:00 PM »
Anyone have a 45# super K with factory sight they might wish to sell?  I am looking for one for my dad who is too old to pull any more weight and too stubborn to shoot a crossbow.  He got me into archery back in Bear's heyday and I want to help him out now.  Thanks in advance!

Super K is not as good a shooter as an older Kodiak.   I think the '65 or '66 were offered with the built in sight

Ooh, now there is a controversial statement. I know a lot think the Super K shoots better. I would tend to lean toward the Super K, but I realize it is a good match-up.

I'll put my  '63 & '64 Kodiaks up against any Super K, any day.

I bought a '64 Kodiak in '64.  I used it 4 years and in '68 bought a new '68 Super K.  I sold my '64 for $15.00

BIG MISTAKE!!

Doc, I think you may have a fetish for power tools as well.    :bigsmyl:

I finally nailed down a 55# to replace it.  In very good condition, I paid $500.00 about three years ago.  Whoda thunk these old bows would be worth that much today

Heck Doc, I got a 40# '64 Kodiam from you for $200.00.  Compared to that, I figure the extra 15# cost me an extra $20.00 per pound

Guys, don't forget I still need that Super K with a sight for Dad.  "He will not try a recurve again without one.  I guess when you have done it one way for 68 years you can shoot however you want.  I suppose I could put a sight on about anything, but prefer the factory version.

Super Kodiaks are not that uncommon, depending on what yeatr you want, but factory sights make them more scares.  I guess Collectors suck them up and hang on to them.  Keep an eye on Freebay.

You might get luckey.

I have a 68 or 69(I forget without checking) super k with a built in sight. It has better sight they offered. Its a 64inch but its a 48#. I have been looking for time to refinish it. I like the 59 kodiaks better. Dont most super Ks have the place for the sight? You just remove the plate and install the sight?

You can find him at   http://www.traditionalarcherysales.com/

Len's a nice man and a good guy to work with. I just bought a 55# - 67 1/2 Kodiak Hunter from him ...... beautiful!

The only problem is that Len doesn't send pictures. Says he has too many problems when dealing with them. He'll talk to you on the phone about it though, and his descriptions are accurate - no BS

Not all Super K;s were routed for a sight.  I have a '68 that is not.  I think more were not routed than the ones that were routed.

I dont think I want to sell mine. It needs a small hole filled and to be cleaned up. I wish I had the plate to cover the sight inlet to go with it.

Keep your eyes open for a crappy Magnesium "B" Riser.  The plate or sight will fit your Super K.
