new guy here
« on: December 02, 2007, 01:09:00 AM »
Hey guys. This is my first post but have been learning lots by reading this forum for a year or so, off and on.  I've shot recurve before off and on mostly just practicing in the yard.  Better shot instinctively than I thought (have shot compounds for years). I guess a question I have is what are the advantages of these shorter reflex/deflex longbows over the recurve or the regular longbow?  I'm looking to pick up a new bow and have limited options for bows to try, so I'm not sure if I should just get a recurve which I know I can shoot well, or look into these reflex/deflex longbows.  I guess they just intrigue me.  Thanks.

P.S. I do most of my whitetail hunting out of treestands so I don't think a regular longbow would work that great for me.

Greetings and welcome.  I can't help you with the question though - I shoot a recurve and like it very much.  :-D

Welcome!

I'm pretty high on the hybrid longbows, but the great thing is sooner or later you'll own or try just about every type.  They're all good.

good to see ya!
I shot curvs for years, but now i'll never give up the longbow!!the hybred longbows seem to combine the shooting speed and ease of point that the recurves have, with the quietnes and stability of the longbow.
Just remember to shoot before you buy, what works for some may not work for you.

Welcome here.Shoot the bow that looks and feels right.Advantages and disadvantages are not that big an issue between bow types.Hybrids usually are recurve length and longbow light and speed in between the two.
