A lil' off topic, Vegas Extras...
« on: December 02, 2007, 12:43:00 PM »
Howdy All,
On a recent trip to Las Vegas, I discovered a few “extras”, that perked my archery instincts.
Coming from Hoover Dam, we came across a herd of Desert Bighorns, a stones throw off the highway.  I jumped out of the car, and began taking pictures. Some nice rams were within the herd, and I was quite surprised how comfortable they were, going about their business, while myself and another, took photos.

Later that day, I went to the Bass Pro Shops Super Store, and walked around in awe, at all the mounts and gear.

And the best of all….

There used to be a Horse stable, and trail rideing buisness, right about where you saw those Sheep.I was shoein horses there. The Bighorns were watchin me shoe horses. They started to graze along the road there, and i was afraid one of those Trucks, were gonna come round the bend, and snuff em.I hazed em back off the road. They were probly thinkin, whats this stupid touron think hes doin.We do this all the time.
Target archery is seeing how far away you can get and still hit the bull's eye. Bowhunting is seeing how close you can get and never miss your mark.

There's a Bass Pro in Vegas!?!?  My wife and I went there this Feb on our honeymoon and she didn't even mention it to me!  I lived in Colorado for 7 years and used to go to Canon City/ Salida area alot for business.  I used to see Bighorn sheeo all the time, and consequently miss it alot along with the Elk,etc...

The Bass Pro Shop, is about 2-4 miles South, on Hwy 15 (I think ).  Just ask any cab driver or Hotel desk clerk, they should be able to point you in the right direction.

It's kind of like "Bed, Bath & Beyond" for guys, and you too Killdeer.

I was quite surprised they had a pretty good selection of longbows and recurves, for one to shoot, and handle. Most of their archery selection are compounds and all the gadgets that go with them, but it was nice to see the traditional side of things represented.

I highly recomend a visit, for anyone who is going.

Ha ha.  I've been going to Vegas for a couple of weeks every year for 14 years and still haven't seen Hoover Dam ... well I do see it on the flight in.

Have a lucky day.

The Bass Pro in Vegas is in the same building as the Silverton Casino.  The only casino my wife won at the Roulette table.  I just couldn't stop her from going back to it, and I didn't mind because it gave me a chance to go to Bass Pro.  I went there and asked to test shoot a longbow, and they wouldn't let me.  Which I thought was pretty crappy, so that's reason why I didn't buy it.
