Yet another bow identification please
« on: November 05, 2008, 11:25:00 PM »
Seems I am always looking for old Kodiaks. I found in a listing this guy selling a bunch of stuff including this bow

Is this a Kodiak? If so can anybody date the bow?

I´m just not qualified yet...

Thanks

Simon

The sight window does look a little small for a Kodiak if I compare it to a 61-62 K. The front of the riser seems too rounded also. The Kodiaks look to have a slightly pointy riser. The grip is very thin too. The early 60s Kodiaks seem to have a slightly thicker grip if I am not mistaken. My 66 K has a thicker grip than my 71 Super Kodiak.

Lots of selelrs don't know a thing about bows.  They find them in estate sales and such.

I have seen Kodiak Hunters, Kodiak Specials and Kodiak Magnums listed as "Kodiak" on e8ay.

That might be an Indian Senaca for all we know, or some other lesser brand.  They hear about bows being referred to as "Kodiak" so they list them that way.
