Hot and cold??
« on: December 03, 2007, 03:59:00 PM »
Does hot and cold affect the life of a bow?  Like taking your bow out hunting in 20 degrees and bring it back in to 67 degrees???  I know that wood swells and contracts, but does the fiberglass on a bow stop this?

I am not an expert but here is my opinion.

The temperatures you posted will not cause a problem but, don’t leave you bow is a hot environment such as a vehicle, in front of a window or next to a heater. Heat will ruin your bow faster than anything. I don’t know what the actual range is for too hot but the temperature range that most people keep their house within will be fine for a bow. The colder temperatures (as far as I know) should not be a problem.

If I am wrong someone will see this post a correct me I hope.

By the way welcome to Tradgang.
