color sanded off limb?

I've refinished a half dozen bows now and just started on a '65 Kodiak lefty for my girlfriend.  As I did the lower limb I noticed what appeared to be the green fiberglass color "rubbing out".  I stopped all sandpaper at that point, and if I hold it in the light just right I'm certain I've sanded down the color.  

Now to clarify, I was using 150 grit with no more than firm two finger pressure.  The pressure would be not much more than what I would use over the silkscreens.  Is that possible to take off the color without much effort?

Add to that, the reason I was using 150 grit is to remove the gunk someone else had applied with what I'm certain was a horse grooming brush.  Is 150 too course?

That bow may have had the limbs painted green at the factory.I use 100 grit all the time.I would say see if you can see green paint.One other thought is the sand paper would turn a little greenish kind of anyhow..Or load up a couple pics of where your working and we could check it out...bowdoc
