Did you say you're going to refinnish that bow Steve?    :saywhat:

That's sweet,  What weight is it?

Its 45 lb wish it was 50 but I can live with it.  Picked it up at a garage sale, that one and a nice old polar for 50 bucks.  Sweet deal.  I will need down the road, both details but it is my winter project. Thanks

That Baby's gonna be dark when you're done.

Post some pics when the project is complete.  62 Kodiaks are always great eye candy.

Well, I got started tonight. I can see why the fellas that do this for a living are few and far between. Pucker factor is pretty high when drilling into a perfectly good 47 year old Rosewood riser.  :scared:    :scared:

I got all my stuff together;

Then went to work. First I put a piece of tape on said riser as the good Doc ordered;

Marked it;

Then headed for the shop. I'm in the process of cleaning out this hole due to a job change/loss. Now, where is that drill press?

First I needed some shims between layers of an old t-shirt to get the riser layin flat.

Then the countersink hole is drilled.  :scared:

Next I determined the depth of the bushing hole, and marked the drill bit.

I took it slow and double checked my depth a couple of times  :scared:    :scared:    :scared:

I know these aren't as sought after as Rich's nail clippings, but I thought I'd offer some shavings up here before I put them on th****. You can PM me for pricing.

Next I had the inspector general check out my handiwork;

Looks like he came up smiling, musta done alright.

Bowdoc, I sent you an email with some questions. I'm fine with you answering here for others to see.

1. Do I put finish into the hole before installing? Like tru-oil.

2. Do I epoxy the bushing in place?

3. Can I use a thin screwdriver that fits the slots exactly since I don't have the proper square tool?

Yes I would put like maybe just 1-2 coats of finish in the hole.Try and keep it thin so it will not make the hole to tight when installing the bushing.Epoxy yes or no your choice if you use epoxy you may never get the bushing out but epoxy is good if your never going to remove the bushing.Flat blades do not work to well the bushing may get a little tight right at the last bit of tighting and the flat blades like to slip and strip the threads.You can buy a cheap screw driver with 1/4" square shank and grind the blade off it will fit right inside the bushing..bd

I put one in by using a brass "slotted" bolt of the proper size and just twisting bolt and bushing in together with a good fitting screwdriver

After the epoxy cured the bolt twisted right out.  I did put a little string wax on the bolt to make sure I didnt get any epoxy in the threads.

I had an extra one of those wrenches used to get the disposal freed up when your kid jambs it up for you, but it was shaped wrong.

After a few minutes on the sander she shaped up just fine.

Got her started straight.

The screw in place.

Now she's ready for bunnies.

While I was at it I made a new strike plate and added the feather rest I got from Daryl a while back.
