Traxx and I end up at the shop on Saturday and find it clean! Wow, neither of us were there last weekend and we expected a mess. Seems Russel wanted to spine some cedars and arrived early so he could do that and cleaned the shop. Owner Rick just smiled, so did Traxx and I. We just shot all afternoon and hatched a scheme to hunt rabbits on Sunday. So out we go to the Spanish Springs area and a ranch that we have permission to hunt. The owner isn't there and the main gate is locked so we jump the fence and start the hunt at the haystacks. There is one up front but FTS's (flee the scene) before we can shoot. I end up on the back side and find a rabbit between the fence and a trough. I stare at him and try to think how this judo is going to get through that chicken wire, but this rabbit also FTS's. Russel takes a shot and just misses. I move up a little farther and jump one and my arrow misses high. he stops and my second flies into a harrow-breaks. the rabbit moves out and stops about 31 steps from me and takes a bodkin behind the kidney. Traxx seees the commotion and shoots. Rabbit down. We get a few more up, sling a few shafts and spot a covey of quail. Our attempts to position for a shot are frustrated by the wary birds. A cold morning made warm by great friends and some action. Next week, we do it again
