Bear coins?

I know I've read it on here before, but now I can't find it.  What's the latest word on the aftermarket coins, or where can I buy an old one?  I thought some folks on here had mixed reviews about the 3Rivers replacements.  I have a '70 Super K on the way with one missing.

Hey Carlos,
I'm about 2 weeks, maybe a little bit more,from getting the copper coin out, I think its also the right bear for an aluminum one.

I'm still learning what coin went were,when.

I'm not sure which metal was used in the 70 SK's.
I think the 3R coin is the right model and metal for your bow.

Its just made from a tired form IMO

Kurt- the coin in a '70 was silver but not aluminum- maybe nickel? German silver? Bowdoc or Rich can probably tell you what the actual material is.                       Grant

LOL I thought the 70 SK was Brass.

In any case, the 3 Creeks coin = not so good  :(

good pic its just the guy walnut shell blasted the riser of this 1970 super K and he may have forgoten to remove the coin...bd     ....

Having the right guy making them right now.
Thats why I have to wait 2 more weeks   ;)    

My Repro is the coin out of a 1959 Kodiak.
Thanks for letting me borrow it Trap.

From Dons pics looks like the aluminum coins are the same Bear and logo, so I will have alum and copper made in 1st run.

So, help me out here, is the German steel coin the same Bear and logo?

I think somebody posted a pic once, of all the coins and the what years they were in bows, does anybody have it still?? I'd like a copy.

 I will keep everyone informed, as I get closer

In Dons pic again,

I see the flat back Bears,in copper/ alum/ German steel
and the round back Bears looks like in brass/alum

Then I see some roundback with a extra row of bumps just inside the rim, what years did that happen?

Better hold on...The 1963 Kodiak is not brass.Never was...the 63-64-65 and a few 66 Kodiaks were German nickle/silver.One thought is those coins are coverd in a very very thick yellow colored fuller finish makeing the coin look brass....and the 1970 Bear Super Kodiak Coin is aluminum for sure...bowdoc

Using the coins for dating purposes is not an EXACT science, as they were often used haphazardly from whatever stock was available. Regarding the 1970 Bear Super Kodiak Coin, note that aluminum as well as brass was used from 63-72, and nickel-silver from 70-72...     :confused:    making 70 an interesting year coin wise!

Coins are for sure not a good dateing system.I'am certin over the years some may have been lost and replaced by the bows owners too.Also in 1960 the Kodiaks can be found with copper aluminum and the flat bear made of nickle alloy which were in the 1960 Grizzly's.Maybe the Kodiak line ran short on coins and just snatched them off the Grizzly line....
Trap where's that 1960 Kodiak you got off G-Bone...That one has a nickle coin in it.....bd

I just looked at my '70 Super K and i guess what I thought was nickel could be polished aluminum- My TDs are gold colored brass. Don; don't let me get confused,lol.    Grant

Well, from the pictures it looked like this bow was gonna need some "love" anyway, so I'm not too worried about perfect authentic metal.  I would like it to be silver in color, which at least makes it look right.  

Kurtbel5 if you'll let me know if you get anything like that....
