Bear coins?

speaking of coins that 62 kodiak i picked up has some finish off of the coin. will this effect anything (i.e. moisture getting in the wind). what should i do if anything.
 

also it has these sights on it. I want to take them off. what should i do with the holes? also does any body know what kind of sights they are?

I heard at one time that the mayor of Grayling came to visit Fred at the factory. Apparently the bear coins were being used in the city parking meters as nickels. The mayor had a coffee can of the coins that had been collected out of the meters. Fred returned the coins back to the production line and they were put into bows. I don't think the workers really cared which coin got put in a bow.

Well, I made a slight mistake.  The bow is in fact either a '71 or '72 and at one time it had the newer "button" on it.  It looks as though someone removed it and used one of the holes for a kwikee type quiver.  I'm not trying to make it something it's not, but I'd like to put a flush coin in place of that hole.  How complicated is it gonna be to get that hole "just right"??

Kerley thats an easy change.I will mic my bit later today and post the size.You will want to make sure the bow is clamped down solid so it will not shift around during drilling.bd

The "just perfect" depth to drill is what concerns me most.  Do you glue it in with standard hot-melt?  And could I add a little extra glue under it if it's drilled too deep?
