Finally...just about ready. My turkey season begins next week and I got the '59 Polar cleaned up and shooting, mounted a reasonably period-correct quiver, but those arrows and late heads just don't cut it!

Anybody happen have 2 or 3 'shooter' Razorheads from '59 they want to part with?

Oh yeah, and keep your fingers crossed for the late Michigan turk season. Thanks!

Looks like I get to join in on the festivities thanks to Hink, who pointed me in the right direction at Comptons, and Norm (Zepnut) who helped me in a big way. Thanks guys.

This thing shoots way better than I do.

My best 5 shot group ever with any bow.

FB522 62" 48# @ 28" feels like 40# and so smooth.
Original strike plate, feather rest replaced by me from TRAP.

Top- a '59 Kodiak (Acquired from Johnnyrazorhead)

Bottom - a '59 Kodiak Special (Acquired from Tom Phillips)

I will have a '59 Grizzly going for sale this weekend if anyone else wants to get in on the '59 hunts.

Excellent bunch of bows. Sweet simplicity was my first thought looking at them.

Ive yet to see one in person.

'59, the year I started 1st grade.

Ol' Fred would be proud!

SOMETHING tells me I'm gonna have to save up some pennys for some time to find own as nice as these here.

I refer to that K Special as a HCW Model. The HCW stands for Hidden Compund Wheels. It's the only think that accounts for the speed!

Actually it's a "Val Refined" bow - later owned by Bowdoc and now me. Bowdoc has a thread or 3 on here talking about the speed of that bow.

The hunt started long before I made it to Canada.Back in the early spring I started praticing every day with my 1959 Kodiak.Not just shooting arrows but praticing at the 2-4 yard distance we would be shooting at bears.I praticed with bow arrow quiver broadhead and head shrinker I would use on the hunt.
I for one never believe just because its so near of a shot I can make it without a little pratice.I've been on plenty of hunts where some folks myself included believe just because its only 6-9 feet sometimes they can make that shot placment easy.not gonna happen everytime believe me.You add hair and a heart beat plus shooting a critter that can be up that tree faster then you can think...you should be able to do everything in one smooth even movement.I pratice while setting down and making a slow least amount of movement smooth even fluid draw for several weeks before going and it works good for me.
When the time came to shoot I felt I was 100% ready and able to place the 625 grain arrow right where it needed to be.The 50 year old Kodiak made the shot just as we planned and the razorhead tipped bill sweetland arrow did thier work in less then 30 yards...bd
