need help with identification
« on: January 29, 2009, 05:33:00 AM »
I was offered a couple of bows from a friend yesterday.  One is a Hoyt, very pretty bow, all wood with green front edge.  The number 4461 is written on the riser over 47#.  The other is a very beautiful and very short bow that has Sultan Bows 26G 50 x 20 stamped into the riser.  It also has E. Bud Pierson and Son on the limb.  Does this ring a bell with anyone.

Ben -

The Hoyt sounds like a 1950s Hoyt Pro. I have one with the serial number of 5836 that was made/shipped in March of 1957, so I would guess that yours was probably made/shipped in 1956. Those bows clearly show Earl Hoyt's craftsmanship, attention to detail, and fine limb tips & overlays.

Do you have any photos?
