Any Pics of Bear TD Recurves??
« on: January 31, 2009, 08:11:00 PM »
Hey all,

I posted this in the POW WOW and it was suggested I ask it in here.

I have always liked the Bear takedowns, especially the model with the latch that comes in A and B sizes.  I don't know too much about the specifics on these bows, just that I love the looks of them.  I also think the new TD they sell now, the rosewood model, is one of the prettiest bows out there right now.

The only problem is that there are hardly ever any pics posted of these Bear TD bows.  Whenever I see one, I check it out for sure.  Not only do I enjoy seeing pics of these Bear TD's, but I also like to collect them.  I save bow pictures on my hard drive when I see a picture of a bow that I like.  I often go back and look over different pictures I have collected over the years.

So if you all have any pics of these great looking Bear TD bows, how about posting them?  I'd really like to see what you all have in your collections.  I bet there are some real beauties out there too.  If you wouldn't mind talking about the Bear TD with the latch system, I'd like to read it and learn more about them.  I may find out I have to have one some day.

Post 'em if ya got 'em.

Thanks for your time and help.

GREAT PICS.....Thanks for posting them.  I KNOW there's more out there though so lets see 'em.

Also, if someone doesn't mind taking a bit of time to explain to me the differences of the Risers and limbs that were made in that latch style.  What is a Type 1, B style?  I have no clue but I think the B style refers to riser length.  Is that true?  Can someone help?

Also how do these Bear Latch TD's compare to the NEW Bows of today like the Widows and such?  Can the Bears hold their own?  I am betting they can.

I'd LOVE to HAVE one someday.  What does a good condition USED one go for?  I guess the good thing is that I could always buy the riser and get the limbs later if I didn't have the money for the whole bow.

Thanks for your time and help.

Here" my C handle. This sweetheart is pretty much NIB. It's one of the nicest original finish bows I own. I don't usually go after the take-downs and I'm not sure if I'll hang on to it long(got my eye on a different treasure)but this one I couldn't pass up.

I noticed on the spec. sheet Tom I posted earlier that the C was a 24" handle. This one is 26",it"s written on the box by hand. Do any of you TD guy's Know more about this length of c handle?

Hate to change the thread, I'll post more detailed pics on a new one if anyone wants to see some

Greg, you should probably look into this bows history a bit further. From what I can tell from the photo, this is a very early edition of the TD, Later models had the fiberglass extending to the latch on the belly side if I'm not mistaken and may have been two inches shorter. Nice handle.                             Grant

Oops- I'm obviously less informed about the C risers. Thanks for catching me up guys. How about the length Wade?
