Cody - TAM ran from 1952 to 1964. Many of your questions are about the 1930s and 1940s, so even a complete set of TAM would be of little use in learning about the time period that you seem most interested in.
Complete sets of these three archery magazines are an absolute "must have" for your interests…
1927-1943 "Ye Sylvan Archer" ("YSA") reprints are available in the Legends of the Longbow series. Complete sets of original "YSA" are rare. Fewer then a dozen complete sets of originals are known to exist in private collections. "YSA" and "California Bowmen-Hunter" merged to become "Archery".
1944-1969 "Archery" Printed from Feb 1944 to Nov/Dec 1979, then started latter, but most of the later issues have nothing about the 1930-40s. Fairly easy to find individual issues. Over the past 5 years, many complete years of 12 issues have sold at auction for $20 to $50 per year for the 1940s and 1950s. Some Fred Bear covers have gone super high.
1937-1951 "American Bowman Review" Single issues turn up monthly at auction. Complete years surface from time to time. Lots of issues have surfaced in the past two years. Still difficult to locate every issue to make a complete set, but worth the effort for the serious collector.
I have complete sets of all the archery magazines printed from 1919 to 1985 bound into books to keep them from getting misplaced or damaged. The bound books also make it easier to locate and mark specific articles. (I mis-stated that, there is still one single issue of one magazine that is missing)…
Here is a list of “Archery” showing each month printed from 1944-1969. You should start a thread titled…
